Description:

Lamu is a very special unendangered destination. Crime rate is very low, being a tourist you can walk through Lamu and the environment without any fear. Lamu is a day to day experience and there are no clear guidelines on what to do on a given day. Lamu has two very big festivals in a year, the Maulidi festival, held in April and the Lamu cultural festival in November, both activities take up to a week, making Lamu a bee hive of activity. Occasional races for dhows and donkeys are organised by individuals, hotels and organisations to add spice to regular routines.

Location:

The house is located about 250 meters behind the donkey sanctuary, from the sea front. It is 200 years old, it has been built in original Swahili design.

Getting There:

Approach: With the bus from Malindi (about 5 hours) to Mokowe on the main land, from here you will take a boat (about half an hour). With the airplane from Malindi or Nairobi to Manda Island. you will continue by boat.
