Parklands Sports Club - Nairobi
Ojijo, Off Museum Road,Parklands, PO Box 40116, Nairobi, Kenya (Apartments/Motel/Hotel)
Parklands Sports Club It started on 12 September 1906 when eleven white settlers petitioned the then Her Majestys sub-commissioner of Nairobi for a portion of Government land (currently the area occupied by the Club). This was to enable them create a sporting facility where they could meet, relax and play civilized games. This was granted and so they started by putting up a simple Clubhouse made of wood and iron. Their initial office was a small corrugated iron hut.
It was initially an exclusively white dominated Club with the first non-European member, Mr. Yashvin Shretta being admitted in 1964. He later became the first non-European chairman in 1979 and subsequently succeeded by the first African, Mr. Paul Ndungu in 1982.
