Description:

Swara Plains, owned by David Hopcraft, provides immense views with big skies that are so much a part of the high savannah. Both Mount Kenya to the north and Kilimanjaro to the south are visible from the sanctuary. There is a perimeter fence line of over 50 kilometers and some 100 kilometers of roads. David Hopcraft, a conservationist, began experiments on Swara Plains with the support of Cornell University and the National Science Foundation, to understand the relationship between wildlife and healthy rangelands. 'Duma', a Warner Bros film feature is based on the Hopcraft's story.

Situated on the Kapiti plains opposite the rugged Lukenya Hill, Acacia Camp nestles in a glade of Yellow Fever Trees. It has exclusive access to 20,000 acres of gently rolling terrain. Unknown to many, Acacia Camp hosts a resident population of over 3,000 game animals and over 270 identified bird species.
