KISUMU BEACH RESORT started operations in 1997. We are a family owned resort. The resort sits on approximately 20 acres of land on the shores of Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is the 2nd largest fresh water lake in the world and the largest in Africa. It is approximately 27000 sq miles. Lake Victoria contains one of the largest species of fresh water fish in the world called the Nile Perch which grows to approximately 250 Kg. We are an environmentally friendly resort and are self sufficient in numerous ways. We grow our own fruits, make our own charcoal and have our own independent water supply. We have numerous types of trees growing within the resort. For example: mangoes, papayas, golden apples (white supporters) etc and many other indigenous trees. We also have birds such as Fish Eagles, Egyptian Geese, Kingfishers, Egyptian Ibis, Black Ibis and Hammer Cops and a variety of river birds nesting within the resort. Hippos grazing are a common site in the evenings.
